EqualiTeach are thrilled to announce the launch of our latest Educational Resource. Outside the Box supports schools to take a whole school approach to promoting gender equality and tackling sexism and harassment and is available completely free of charge.
We are grateful to Rosa- the UK fund for Women and Girls for funding the development of this much needed resource. Written by equality and education professionals in consultation with gender equality specialists, the resource provides a wealth of background information including key terminology, before taking schools through the fundamental steps towards creating a school environment that is safe and inclusive for all.
The resource is available for free, and can be downloaded in full or by chapter allowing educators to focus on the area most relevant to them: senior leaders may wish to start at the beginning with the advice around policies and procedures, and changing the school environment, while class teachers may be keen to explore the selection of lesson plans and activities for the early years up to KS5, with the accompanying downloadable resources.
We’re really proud of this new resource, but of course, your input and feedback is really valuable, so if you do take a look through the resource, please let us know what you think on this brief survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/OutsideTheBoxResource
We need to make gender equality a commonplace ethos in our schools. Only by creating school communities where all stakeholders are committed to the fight against inequality, can we effectively tackle sexism and sexual harassment in
education settings. This resource is here as a guide for educators on promoting gender equality and tackling sexism and sexual harassment in schools and equipping young people with the tools to reject gender stereotypes and sexism and challenge gender inequality, sexism and sexual harassment in wider society.
