Funded by The Mayor’s Shared Endeavour Fund to Counter Prejudice and Hate

EqualiTeach is excited to share that we have been awarded funding through The Mayor’s Shared Endeavour Fund to deliver a programme of work in Enfield, Greenwich, Islington, Merton and Southwark. Since 2020, The Shared Endeavour Fund has supported grassroots civil society projects that counter the spread of extremism and radicalisation in the capital alongside empowering Londoners to stand up to hate and intolerance.

Through the fund we are delivering 120 workshops for young people aged 14-18, which develop their critical thinking skills by exploring stereotypes, misinformation, bias and propaganda. These interactive, pupil-led workshops are designed to raise awareness of far-right extremism, build resilience to radicalisation and engage young people as active citizens to challenge racist and xenophobic attitudes and behaviours. The workshops are much needed in the current climate and have proven to be incredibly popular, with the whole programme nearly fully-booked.

In addition, we are running five two-hour online staff training sessions to support educators to have open conversations and work effectively with young people on controversial issues, to counter prejudice and hate. We are also providing a portal of resources to support participants to implement their learning in practice.

There are still places on our online staff training events, which are taking place between October and February. If you are an educator based in one of the five local authority areas of the project, and are interested in attending a training event, please contact kate@equaliteach.co.uk.
