What initiative(s) have you put in place as a result of your participation in the Equally Safe programme?

In the time that we have been working with EqualiTeach we have addressed a number of areas that we felt we were lacking expertise in.

We have now set up a prayer room for our Muslim children which didn’t exist previously.

We have also relaunched our confidential email address for students to access, together with an anonymous ‘Safe’ box for reporting concerns.

We have also continued to survey students throughout the year to get their views on bullying and safety at school.

Our Pride group continues to grow as many of these students were involved in the Agents For Change day so they are keen to keep the momentum for change going.

We are excited about the future and working with the school community to ensure that everyone feels valued.

“I would like to thank the staff that have worked with us this year from EqualiTeach. It has been a really positive, supportive, non-judgmental experience. Because of that we have been made to feel at ease with the areas that we did not feel so confident in and been encouraged to ask questions and be open about where we can make positive improvements at school for the staff and students.

We want all staff and students to feel safe and supported so this work has helped us achieve that.

We don’t feel that we are at the end of this journey but right at the beginning and we are excited about the future and working with the school community to ensure that everyone feels valued.”
