EqualiTeach is delighted to announce an exciting project running in St Neots schools this half term, courtesy of funding from the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF).
The funding will allow us to work with two schools in St Neots to deliver our Outside the Box workshops in which young people are given the opportunity to explore gender stereotypes and consider the long-term effects of gender inequality. The aims of the workshops are to:
- Provide young people with the opportunity to explore gender stereotypes and the harm that these can cause
- Allow young people to explore where gender stereotypes come from
- Equip young people with an understanding of what sexism is and its impact
- Provide young people with the opportunity to think about what they can do to stop sexism
Our approach is to create a safe space for discussion, using interactive activities to explore concepts and empowering young people to make positive changes based on their learning.
“The workshop gave the students a voice and an opportunity to express their views and increase their understanding around gender issues.”
