The Baytree Centre is a charity which supports women and girls in Brixton, south London. The charity wanted to book some training to bring everyone together, help people to understand the potential barriers to equality, diversity and inclusion, such as unconscious bias and help the team to action plan to create sustainable change in the organisation moving forward.
EqualiTeach liaised with the centre to develop the training content, which was tailored further following an initial survey of the staff.
Following the training, participants were provided with reflective checklists, enabling them to begin recognising areas of good practice within their work already, and where there may be room for improvement.
To build a sustainable approach moving forwards, EqualiTeach worked with the Baytree Centre, providing an equality audit to analyse the equality work going on throughout the setting, and working with the team to set an equality action plan for the next steps.
EqualiTeach is also reviewing the centres policies and procedures providing guidance for strengthening them and measuring their impact on equality.
